Situated right on the beach in Montezuma, Costa Rica, El Parque Hostel offers rooms from as little as $10 per night. Use the hostel as a base to explore the wonderful jungles and oceans of the Nicoya Peninsula.
Snorkel off the coast and marvel at the marine life that lives in the ocean nearby. If you want to see more of the ocean why not book a scuba diving trip out at Tortuga Island, or go on a deep-sea fishing trip?
Not to forget the forest, of course. El Parque is situated in Montezuma, a fishing village that is surrounded by a lush tropical jungle. With strangler figs and Teak trees, you will marvel at the beauty of this place, Take a horse-back ride and see monkeys and parrots, lizards and agoutis in their natural habitats. Waterfall and canopy tours are available allowing you to explore the jungle in ever more interesting and exciting ways.
The best feature of El Parque, which simply means “The Park” is that it’s right on the beachfront. All the tour boats launch right here, so if you’d like to go to Tortuga Island, hope to see a dolphin from a boat, or want to buy a super-fresh fish, then this place is great. You don’t get a lot for $10/night, but how many places can you stay beachfront for that price?
At the end of the day? Why not relax in one of the many bars or restaurants in Montezuma itself? Food served ranges from Italian to local Costa Rican specialities. You can experience a BBQ on the beach or have a pizza with your friends! And if not Montezuma, why not explore Cabuya, with its wonderful snorkeling reefs, or the surfing beaches at Mal Pais and Santa Teresa?
With the oldest national park in Costa Rica, Cabo Blanco, just down the road from Montezuma, El Parque Hostel is perfect for exploring this magical town when you’re on a budget, and discovering what it is to live the life, as the locals say, “Pura Vida”.

My new favorite restaurant, Clandestina is not to be missed by food lovers staying anywhere near to Montezuma. Established in March 2015, Clandestina is the new kid on the block. The Oregon/Tico collaboration is a winner among locals and travelers alike, with artisan craft beers, made onsite by Butterfly Brewing Co. and delicious, exciting […]
