The “Canopy of the Pacific” known usually as the Malpais Canopy Tour, is one of two that are in this area of Costa Rica.
The Malpais canopy tour is higher and faster than the one in Montezuma, offering stunning views of the whole area, as you can see from the photo above. Nearly a mile long, with eleven platforms, arrange between five and thirty meters in the rainforest trees. There are two very long rides of, 300m (984 ft) and 500m (1640 ft) each.
It’s also much closer to Santa Teresa, so it’s more popular with tourists on the west side of the southern Nicoya Peninsula. However, the Montezuma canopy tour includes a swim in Montezuma Falls, so some people who plan to go to the falls anyway, will do the Montezuma canopy tour so they can do both activities at once.
Others choose to do BOTH canopy tours, since they’re great fun and offer different experiences.
$40 for the tour
$5 extra if you need transport from you Santa Teresa / Malpais Hotel
Three times per day: 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM
Duration of the tour: Approximately two hours
