The jungle is full of wildlife, from Howler and Capuchin monkeys to colourful parrots. You can book horse trekking tours through the jungle and out along the quiet beaches.

If you want some adventure, the Canopy tour takes you into the heart of the jungle and then up into the canopy on zip-wires, or you can go scuba diving and snorkelling at Tortuga island and even surf at the famous Mal Pais and Santa Teresa beaches. Costa Rica’s oldest national park, Cabo Blaca, is only ten kilometres south from the village, and here you can enjoy the jungle at its best.

Its beaches stretch for kilometres on both sides of the village, down to the smaller village of Cabuya in the south and beyond. Here you can swim in the ocean, or snorkel out at the reefs, especially the reef at la Isla de Cabuya, a small island 100 metres off the coast of Cabuya.
