Kalapiti is an amazing, luxury villa operating as a boutique hotel in the Delicias / Montezuma area. It has a lot to offer, but it has achieved an almost legendary status in the area based on its spectacular swimming pool, which is really something out of this world, and probably the primary reason that people rent the house.
Kalapiti is nestled on the south of the Nicoya Penisula and is conveniently housed between some of the most attractive tourist destinations in Costa Rica. Visitors will discover unbelievable world class surfing beaches, lush tropical jungles as well as picturesque rivers with gushing waterfalls. They are located near Montezuma and only minutes from all major attractions such as Cobano, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and the Cabo Blanco Absolute Nature Reserve, which was the first national park built in Costa Rica. Tambor Airport is just 20 minutes’ drive from the property, while the Mal Pais and Santa Teresa Beaches can be accessed within a 15-minute drive.
It’s much more than just a property for the owners. It is a heartfelt project that was born more than a couple for decades ago when the owners arrived from Cataluña, Tossa de mar Spain. While living their tropical romance dream in Costa Rica, they discovered this incredible hamlet that seemed to be the nature hub of the world, located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, a naturally blessed spot between the beaches of Montezuma and Malpais-Santa Teresa. Formerly a horse ranch, this place was converted into a vacation property with much effort, passion and time. The owners transformed this ranch into a botanical garden flaunting hundreds of tree and plant species that to biodiversity aficionados. Their gardens have become the shelter for countless animal species, specifically birds and mammals.
Visitors here can enjoy the serenity of the set in the midst of nature ambiance, delectable Mediterranean-style cuisine replete with luxurious accommodations and amenities. Their unique architectural design has an inspiring mix of designs featuring soft curves that stimulate an aura of relaxation and inner peace amidst celebration of nature.
Offering two state of the art villas, Kalapiti Luxury Jungle Suites has a 15 metres-long swimming pool, a hot tub and a luxurious Turkish bath arrangement. The boutique hotel also has massage services; business centre and a complimentary Wi-Fi connection are also available. The villas have plush amenities like iPod parking stations, 47” flat-screen cable TVs complemented with a DVD player and well stocked mini bars. One of the villas has a hot tub and the other an opulent spa bath no less in the bathroom. Both the villas have spacious terraces with vistas of the garden or the pool area. The on-site restaurant serves Mediterranean and international-style gourmet food. Kalapiti Suites also offers yoga lessons in the middle of an Arabic-themed atmosphere. There is a concierge desk in place to help the guests make any tour plans to visit the surrounding regions, along with a front desk that operates for 24 hours.
Level 1 – An elegantly appointed master suite measuring 75 square meters is housed on the main floor. This suite has a main living room with a round mattress measuring 250 centimeters in diameter, filled with cushions and encircled by Arabic stylee windows that are reminiscent of the Arabian Nights style charming ambiance. This is your go to corner for reading or undisturbed relaxation. The living room space is emphasized by a “taarba”, an plush Moroccan type sofa, right opposite a 47-inch HD3D screen with DVD player, a minibar, accessories for iPods and other gadgets, a coffeemaker, and more.
The owners have placed maximum emphasis in offering visitors the best in class bedroom, with a mattress that is 14 inches thick, one of the most popular models from the Simmons Beautyrest Black Luxury Collection. This well appointed room is also adorned with a circular jacuzzi with six jets designed for a couple of people, enclosed by windows opening up to the forest and right in front of the bed as you wake up. There is private bathroom with limestone walls and floors fitted with a shower. Beyond the windows is a balcony that measures 20 square meters and looks into the hotels well maintained garden. Guests are often spotted relaxing on the comfortable chairs and tuning in to the sounds of nature.
Level 2 – On the second level, just at the entrance to the suite that welcomes the guests, there is a circular terrace with a relaxing lounge, a fountain to rejuvenate guests and an incredible view of the boutique hotel’s garden and pool. Inside there is a plush sofa on which guests can comfortable plonk themselves and watch television and a desk in a zone cut away from the bedroom by an elegant lunch counter. The bed, as in the other suites, will provide guests with incredible comfort on a king-size Simmons Beautyrest Black mattress.
Adjacent to the bed in a rest area that celebrates the property’s philosophy of the importance of rest and comfort, guests will discover a Moroccan-style L-shaped mattress encircled with cushions, ideal for relaxing near windows that directly look into the verdant forest. If required, this comfortable lounging area can be quickly converted into a plush double bed. A small table with a couple of chairs adorn the outside balcony space, where you can relax in the midst of the area’s natural beauty and spectacular sounds. The suite is luxuriously equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, television, DVD player, mini-bar, coffee maker and sound equipment (a dock for iPods and other similar devices). The bathroom is tiled in limestone and decorated with the same refreshing and inspiring style prevalent throughout the property. It is emphasized by a double jacuzzi with hydro massage encircled by windows that watch in awe the dance of the swaying palms outside.
Additionally, there is a handcrafted bathroom sink created from a single piece of stone. The incredible aspect about this bathroom is the shower which is located on an independent open balcony facing the forest so that guests enjoy their shower while viewing the forest canopies in complete privacy yet right in the middle of nature. In addition to other in-room amenities, there is a daily maid service which includes basic cleaning services, change of sheets every 3 days and towels every day.
The size of Kalapiti’s pool is 6 meters wide by 15 meters in length, with depth varying from 1.2 to 1.6 meters. It has a jacuzzi for up to 6 people from which two waterfalls gush into the main pool, offering a rejuvenating water massage The 15-meter cascade pours into the hige pool. This is a child friendly pool.
Kalapiti’s pool is surrounded by 300 square meters of patio and porch areas covered in natural limestone, and it’s located in the middle of the property’s breathtaking beautiful private gardens. Visitors can sunbathe in complete privacy, rest on the comfortable furniture or simply enjoy a good vacation read. The pool can be accessed in an instant from their upper terraces by using the water slide, helping amused guests land directly in the fresh pool waters.
The pool operates an innovative and eco friendly water purification system that is based on salt water. By refraining from using chlorine, the hotel seeks to make the bathing experience more pleasant for the guests, without the risks and unnecessary damages to the environment. This allows the pool to be used throughout the day without any problems.
Kapapiti has three rental suites, that range from $250-$1100 per night depending on the season.
During high season, there’s a minimum stay, but most of the year you can stay for a single day if you wish.
