Long Term Rentals

Long Term Rentals

Many people are interested in staying for a month or more in Montezuma. This could be for an extended vacation, to really get absorbed in the tropical lifestyle, or people who are moving here need a place to stay while they’re searching for a property to buy, or are building their home. Others want to live here for a while to meet the community and see how they really like living here, before making the decision to immigrate.

So many people ask me about this that I decided to make a list of all the places I usually tell people to contact directly.

I’m not going to list prices because they will change so much based on what time of year, how long you’re staying, etc. But, all of these have prices that are reasonable for long-term stays, even though they may offer much higher nightly rates for short-term vacationers.

There are a lot more long-term rentals than these, but most of these have multiple units so you’re more likely to find something available. For most people, I recommend renting something for a month or two, and plan to upgrade your house later while you’re here in person to search. Eventually you’ll find something great, but it takes time.

Craig’s List

Try searching Craig’s List with the term “Montezuma” and you can sometimes find unique rentals not shown anywhere else. Here are the two Craig’s List areas to search:

In Delicias, very close to amazing restaurant Tierra y Fuego, are four small houses surrounding a swimming pool.

They are set in extensive gardens with lots of fruit trees, and there are two 1BR units and 2 2BR units.

Linda Vista Cabinas Linda Vista Cabina

These are small cottages, above Montezuma on the paved road, with an ocean view. They’re on the right side of the road as you drive from Cobano to Montezuma, just before the road starts getting really steep. They have AC, a shared swimming pool, etc. Many people start their Montezuma adventure here.

Studio Los almendros Studio Los Almendros

Dance teacher Ninoska Gomez has a few houses across from my favorite beach and surf spot, Playa Los Cedros. This is a great option, and the prices are affordable. Ninoska has an “artist in residence” program and sometimes amazing dance teachers from around the world will be staying here.

The location is south of Montezuma towards Cabuya. Because of the beach location, this is really a great option, but you’ll need to be tolerant of the tropical climate.
