The charming Victorian-style Hotel Horizontes de Montezuma is a standalone property on a hilltop 150 m above sea level which guarantees cool breezes, no mosquitos and a pleasant temperature at night. Personally run by the German owner, Birgit Kali Eicker, and her Costa Rican team it offers a high standard of attentive and personalized service. The rooms as well as the corridor are tastefully decorated and have all the comfort guests are looking for. The hotel is perfect for relaxation and helps patrons enjoy their vacation or study Spanish in a serene atmosphere. The annex building and gardens are also tranquil spaces to practice yoga or conduct spiritual retreats.

Amenities

There is a swimming pool in Hotel Horizontes premises where guests can let their hair down and enjoy and relax. You can sunbathe in the lovely, balmy tropical climate or simply watch the magnificent night sky post sundown. Or simply sunbathe on one of the beaches here while enjoying Montezuma’s famed sunset.

The hotel is encircled by lush botanical gardens and a private jungle. Guests can walk past and watch all types of vividly colored tropical birds, learn about tropical fauna on the educational path or just sit and enjoy their view from their private balcony, by the pool or the half-open patio.

When hunger pangs strike, guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the half-open patio with the hotel’s celebrated homemade whole-wheat bread, homemade local jams, tropical fruit and juices and the delicious Costa Rican coffee. The guests are also welcome to freely exchange books in the comfortable book and reading corner.

Tours and Activities

The scenic beach and fishing village of Montezuma is only a good mile from the hotel and is regarded as one of the most beautiful spots in Costa Rica. Cabo Blanco, the first Absolute Nature Reserve founded in Costa Rica, is merely four miles away from the property.

Activities range from hiking through Cabo Blanco, horseback-riding to one of the gorgeous waterfalls, diving and or snorkeling, boat trips to Tortuga Island, sea-kayaking, bird watching, yoga, reiki or a therapeutic massage – we offer many activities in cooperation with local tour operators. There are also golf courses nearby.

Full-day Boat trip to the mouth of Rio Tarcoles on the mainland to watch crocodiles, red aras and much more, duration: 8 hours, incl. beverages and lunch. US$ 120 Per Person)

Horse-Back Riding along Montezuma´s beaches all the way to the Cocalito waterfall, includes water & fruit, duration: approx. 4 hours, US$ 40 Per Person). Visitors can go horse riding along the coast or hike through the forest areas to view Montezuma’s flora or fauna up, close and personal or following mountain trails or hiking up to the famous Montezuma waterfalls.
