A larger coastal map showing the dives sites and more is here: Large Coast Map
Not far from Montezuma, near to the the famous El Chorro waterfall, this area offers three different sites with depths between 8 and 16 meters. Here you will swim through clouds of tropical fish and are likely to spot White Tip Reef Sharks.
– This is the only spot listed here that we go without a boat. The Tortuga Dive Club sometimes takes beginners here who are doing their “discovery dive” one-day scuba course. The dive is shallow… 6-8 meters, but there are tons of fish and often octopus and rays. “Las Manchas” means “the schools” as in school of fish, and is a great snorkeling spot and a very pretty beach: Playa Las Manchas.
Descending to 21 meters you will arrive at the top of this wreck. Upon arrival we will be greeted by snappers and many other tropical fish. Reaching the bottom of the wreck at a depth of 30 meters we often see different rays, and White Tip Reef Sharks sleeping below the hull.
With a second air tank, we usually visit “El Bajo”, where we often see large fish… tuna, large snappers, grouper (mero). This dive site is just north of Cabuya Island, and east of the wreck. This is a good spot to see large fish because it’s so close to Cabo Blanco’s protected marine reserve.
