Montezuma and Santa Teresa designers, models, photographers, and cinematographers came together at Anamaya Yoga Center in Montezuma on August 2-3, 2012 to combine their talents for photography sessions and fashion and circus shows. The event was a benefit for Montezuma’s new recycling center, located in Delicias, as well as to bring awareness to the community of the area’s talented designers and photographers.
Anamaya, one of the most beautiful eco resorts in Costa Rica, volunteered its space, which was created by professional fashion designers and is ideal for showcasing such an event.
Organized by Yasmin Tobon, co-owner of Pasion de Tres, a clothing and jewelry design company, it included six local designers: five from Montezuma and one from Santa Teresa. Participating designers were:
Pasion de Tres – Yasmin & Maria Tobon Amantes del Sol – Jillian Bright De La Negra – Maria Eugenia Cano
Mida – Maria Ida de Marteau
Urbamystik – Paula Gaitan
Jody Novak – Designer of children’s clothing and costumes
The photography and video production for the event was led by Hollywood cinematographer Kelly Mason, who moved to Montezuma early in 2012. She is producing a short series of videos using the video she shot during the two days of the event, and the photos produced by the other photographers. Her first video is here:
Several local photographers, and a professional who happened to be visiting the area, Chris Strother, participated. These included:
The models were all local girls and women who lived in or are connected to the area, including Kelsey Matheson, co-owner of Anamaya, who is a professional actress and model with Elite, Corina Braun, twenty-year old daughter of the owner of Amor de Mar hotel in Montezuma and a professional model with Ford Modeling Agency in Chicago, and local girls Esmeralda Donovan, Eva Cagliani, Maria Quesada, and many more. Also included were many daughters from age 4-10 of various hotel and business owners in Montezuma.
My new favorite restaurant, Clandestina is not to be missed by food lovers staying anywhere near to Montezuma. Established in March 2015, Clandestina is the new kid on the block.
