Nightlife is one of the main attractions at Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area. Cocoloco Bar and La Lora Amarilla are the most talked about bars in Mal Pais. Cocoloco on Monday nights plays reggae sounds and beats, and is the most talked about event of the week. Several locals and curious visitors will converge here on a Monday night to listen to live reggae and DJ music. Saturday night is their special electronic night of the week with international Djs, fireshows and live electronic music from local bands are the highlight of the kickstart to the weekend. Fishing and Snorkeling
There are plenty of fish to be seen that dwell in the areas of Montezuma, Mal Pais and the Santa Teresa shores. The fishing tours offered to visitors are conducted by the experienced fishermen community whose family has been fishing for years. The ocean here holds innumerable number of fish and if one is lucky they will catch themselves a delectable and fresh local meal. Some of the tourists like to go sport fishing in half a day or one full day where they take part in the tour of professional sport fishing and catch Sailfish, Marlin, Roosterfish, Yellow-finned Tuna and Giant Tuna and more. The minimum amount of time to go on a sport fishing tour is about a couple of hours per trip. Each boat holds up to a maximum of 6-8 people. Some visitors also enjoy the boat tours and snorkeling facilities at Mal Pais and Montezuma.

The coastline in and around Malpais has grown considerably in the last couple of years. It is presently considered a modern, young and vivacious place to be, some say a new paradise altogether. Visitors can be fortunate enough to go horseback riding “off the beaten track” on the cast away beaches in the sunset, listening to the enchanting sounds of the waves. It’s a fully exciting experience for visitors of all ages. There are even horseback riding tours on offer at Mal Pais, in the hills of Cabo Blanco Costa Rica and the beaches of Montezuma. Horseback Riding is recommended either early morning or late afternoon. On the tour guests are provided with at least two guides to help them along the way. All the tours leave from and return to Playa Carmen. This tour is especially appealing for children. The horses take visitors through the jungle, valleys and cross rivers.
