In this modern civilized world, we will find many unprecedented problems and challenges such as environmental degradation, climate change, lack of food sovereignty and many more. The reasons behind these challenges are the unsustainable use of finite resources and the western way of living along with unsustainable farming practices. If we want to overcome the challenges, we have to embrace Permaculture practices in our life. This is the practical answer if our goal is to become more sustainable.
In recent years, in the landscaping world, Permaculture has become a big buzzword. Coined by Aussie farmer Bill Mollison in the 70s, Permaculture depicts a collection of practices and concepts that allow us to live sustainably and practically. Permaculture is based on three ethics- (Care of the Earth, Care for People and Fair Share). By adopting these ethics and applying these principles in our daily life we can make the transition from being dependent consumers to becoming responsible producers.
To follow the Permaculture life, you don’t need to be an expert in every possible area or nor do you have to learn every skill possible. If you join a Permacultural course, you will learn how to create meaningful connections, be it cycling nutrients through your garden or cycling resources through your community.
Derived from ‘permanent agriculture’ and ‘permanent culture’, Permaculture means stability and the practice of living lightly on the planet and sustaining human activities in harmony with nature. Permaculture is yoga for the land, as yoga is permaculture for the body. Yoga is a complete discipline to keep a mind-body alignment and to discover the true nature hidden in our own self. If you want to enjoy a Yoga retreat as well as know about the Permaculture practice, you can take the Awaken Retreats Program offered by Rancho Delicioso, an organic farm in Costa Rica.
